Requirements of Type Selection for Chain Scraper Conveyor

1. The material to is a handled by chain scraper conveyor should meet the following requirements.
1) The bulk density of material (ρ) is less than 1.8 t/m3. If the conveyor inclination angle is vertical (90°), t he bulk density (ρ) should be less than 1.0 t/m3
2) The cohesiveness requirements are that the material should still be loose after kneading into clump by hand.
3) The material particle size requirements are as follows:

4) The material temperature should be less than 100℃. For high-temperature, poisonous & explosive, grinding, strong corrosive material, and the material with big lumpiness & large compressibility & big viscosity & strong fluidity, particularly hard material, as well as specially fragile material, should be conveyed by special conveyor type.
5) The application range of Chain scraper conveyor is widely. The suitable conveying material is nearly one thousand kinds, such as wheat, soybean, corn, rapeseed, rice, bran, starch, farina, malt, cereal husk, wood chip, sawdust, cement, clay powder, yellow ground, quartz sand, crushed coal, coal dust, carbon black and etc. 

2. Layout form of chain scraper conveyor
The suitable layout form of chain scraper conveyor should be selected according to the locations of inlet and outlet, conveyor length and inclination angle. Meanwhile, the restrictions and requirements about the length of single conveyor should be taken into consideration for different layout forms.
3. The determination of main technical parameters for chain scraper conveyor
1) The width and height of conveyor trough should be chosen according to material granularity characteristics and capacity requirements.
2) The selected range of chain speed is determined as per material property, conveying principle, structure features, power consumption, service life and technological requirements. Generally the selected speed range is from 0.08 to 1.00 m/s. For material with large suspension property and abrasiveness (ground phosphate rock, cement, silica sand, etc.), and material with certain requirements about breakage rate (rice, prilled urea, etc.), the chain speed should be lower. As for cereals (wheat, corn, soybean, etc.) and material with low bulk density (wood chip, bamboo chip, sawdust, etc.), the chain speed should be higher. Regarding other material, the chain speed is chosen between 0.2 m/s and 0.25m/s.



3) The conveying efficiency is related to material property, but chain speed, scraper & chain type, trough dimensions, operating conditions and slope coefficient should be taken into consideration.
4) The specifications of scraper chain are determined according to the conveying distance and capacity, such as chain allowable load, chain pitch, chain structural form and width and thickness of scraper chain.
5) The motor shaft power (P0) is calculated according to chain speed, peripheral force of drive pulley, transmission efficiency of drive device and power reserve factor. And motor rated power (PM) is equal to or greater than motor shaft power (P0).
6) The head section, tail section, feeding section, intermediate section, inlet and outlet are determined depending on conveyor type, layout form & location, and practical operability.
