I. Key Precautions Before Operating the Conveyor Belt
Before starting the
belt conveyor, comprehensive inspections and preparations must be carried out. Key steps include:
Labor Protection: Operators must wear appropriate labor protection gear. Long hair should be tucked into a cap to prevent entanglement in the belt, which could cause personal injury.
Equipment Inspection: Prior to startup, a thorough inspection of the conveyor belt must be conducted. This includes checking the transmission device, belt tension, rollers, and cleaning devices to ensure they are intact and free of obstructions. The lubrication system must be clear and functional. Additionally, ensure no personnel are on or near the conveyor belt before starting.
Safety Devices: Verify that all safety devices are fully functional, including the lubrication of transmission parts, redirecting rollers, and roller bearings. Operation without lubrication is strictly prohibited. Also, check for any deformation or loosening of the frame and fasteners.
II. Key Precautions During Conveyor Belt Operation
During operation, operators must closely monitor the
rubber belt conveyor’s condition and promptly address any abnormalities.
No-Load Test Run: After starting the conveyor belt, allow it to run idle for 3–5 minutes to check if all parts are functioning normally. Look for signs of belt slippage, scraping, or misalignment.
Abnormality Handling: If abnormalities such as belt misalignment, slippage, or bouncing occur during operation, adjustments should be made immediately. Specifically, if the belt slips, never attempt to resolve it by stepping on the belt, pulling it by hand, using a lever, or inserting objects between the belt and rollers. If the belt tension is incorrect, adjust the tensioning device promptly.
Equipment Monitoring: During operation, regularly inspect components such as the motor, gearbox, transmission gears, bearing bushes, couplings, transmission belts, rollers, and idlers to ensure they are functioning properly. Keep the work area clean to prevent dust accumulation and reduce fire hazards. Ensure proper ventilation to avoid the harmful effects of toxic gases.
III. Key Precautions After Conveyor Belt Operation
After shutting down the conveyor belt, necessary inspections and maintenance tasks must be performed.
Stopping Feed and Unloading Materials: Before shutdown, stop the feed first and wait until all materials on the belt are fully unloaded before turning off the equipment. This prevents material residue from causing equipment damage or waste.
Cleaning and Recording: After shutdown, inspect all mechanical parts while performing cleaning tasks. Thoroughly clean the equipment and diligently record equipment operation data. This helps identify and address potential issues in a timely manner, preparing the equipment for the next startup.
